Hubert Stanley Mollett
Dad. Actually my father was always known by his second name, or rather as Stan. He was an immensely cheerful and loving man, which, considering his probably turbulent childhood says a lot for him and explains why he had very many friends.
My father served virtually all of his working life in the merchant navy, rising from a humble cabin boy to Chief Steward. He was faithful to the P & O line, and even when he retired from the sea he still worked for them in their offices in Southampton.
I thought I knew just about everything about him, but when I came to look into all this family history I found that his youth is almost a complete mystery to me - still.
My sister has contributed a lot of the material in this ‘story’ - a story upon which we are both still working.
